PM Modi mourns ad legend Piyush Pandey
Prime Minister Narendra Modi mourned advertising executive Piyush Pandey on Friday after his death at age 70 from an infection. The prime minister praised the Padma Shri recipient for transforming commercial communication and recalled their past meetings. Modi posted condolences to Pandey’s family and supporters on the social media platform X.
Pandey served as Executive Chairman and Chief Creative Officer at Ogilvy, where he created memorable campaigns for major brands. He developed the political message Ab ki baar Modi sarkar and advertising for Cadbury Dairy Milk and Vodafone. The creative director led public health initiatives, including the polio vaccination campaign with actor Amitabh Bachchan.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal expressed sorrow over the loss. Former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and business leaders from the Adani Group paid tribute to the advertising veteran. His professional legacy continues to influence Indian commercial messaging.
