Scream 7 trailer slashes back with Sidney
Paramount Pictures released the trailer for Scream 7 on Thursday, marking the return of franchise star Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott. The film follows Sidney as she confronts a new Ghostface killer threatening her daughter, played by Isabel May, in what the studio describes as her attempt to end the violence permanently.
The production faced significant changes after its 2023 predecessor. Melissa Barrera departed the project following her termination over social media posts, while Jenna Ortega left due to reported scheduling conflicts. These exits prompted franchise screenwriter Kevin Williamson to assume directorial duties for the first time.
Campbell rejoined the series after skipping Scream VI over compensation disagreements. The cast features Courteney Cox returning alongside newcomers Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Anna Camp, Joel McHale and McKenna Grace.
The franchise has continued without its original director, Wes Craven, who passed away in 2015. Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett helmed the 2022 reboot and 2023 sequel before the latest creative restructuring.
