Shanthi Gears profit drops 16 percent
Shanthi Gears reported a 16 percent drop in net profit for the quarter ending September 2025 compared with the same period last year. The Tamil Nadu gear manufacturer earned 22 crore rupees, down from 26 crore rupees in the previous year’s second quarter. Revenue fell more than 15 percent to 132 crore rupees from 155 crore rupees a year earlier.
The company’s earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization declined 22 percent to 26.6 crore rupees from 34 crore rupees. Profit margins weakened to 20.2 percent from 22 percent in the year-ago quarter. The stock price swung sharply on Friday after the results release, reaching a high of 539 rupees before falling to 494.9 rupees.
Shares closed at 520 rupees on the National Stock Exchange, down 1.30 percent from Thursday’s close of 526.5 rupees. The manufacturer supplies gears and gearboxes to the steel, cement, and power industries.
