Simbisa opens three new counters in Zimbabwe
Fast-food operator Simbisa Brands Limited expanded its Zimbabwe network to 338 locations during its first quarter ending in September, adding three counters despite pressure from a fast-food tax affecting margins. The company generated revenue reaching US$61.1 million, representing a 16 percent increase from the previous year, while customer traffic rose 9 percent to 13.2 million visits. Delivery orders surged 74 percent compared to the prior year.
The Harare-based group allocated US$18.58 million for capital projects through June, planning a net addition of 66 stores, including two Pastino pasta outlets. Zimbabwe operations contributed US$216.09 million in annual revenue, accounting for 71 percent of total business. Regional markets Kenya and Eswatini generated US$90.35 million combined.
Simbisa implemented cost management initiatives focusing on energy efficiency and staffing optimization under its decentralized brand structure. The revised pricing strategy reduced costs on several menu items, stimulating volume growth that offset compressed profit margins from inflation and regulatory taxes.
