Thomas Coesfeld to lead Bertelsmann in 2027
Thomas Coesfeld, the current Chief Executive Officer of BMG, has been elected as the next Chairman and CEO of its parent company, Bertelsmann. He will assume the leadership role following the conclusion of Thomas Rabe’s contract. Christoph Mohn, Chairman of the Bertelsmann Supervisory Board, endorsed the appointment, citing Coesfeld’s entrepreneurial leadership and his successful tenure at the music company.
Coesfeld expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him and stated he looks forward to leading Bertelsmann with the support of its executive board and employees. He has served as BMG’s CEO since mid-2023, a period during which the company reported record earnings. A company spokesperson confirmed Coesfeld will lead both BMG and Bertelsmann in a dual capacity starting in 2027.
