Wicked sequel hype hijacked by Mario movie tease
Audiences heading to theaters for Wicked: For Good may get an extra treat when the musical sequel opens on Friday, Nov. 21. Industry insider My Time to Shine reports that the first full trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will screen before the film, meaning it should appear online in the days leading up to that date.
The animated sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie is scheduled to reach cinemas on Friday, April 3, 2026. A brief teaser released in September showed a golden butterfly floating through the Mushroom Kingdom before ascending skyward to reveal the title. That clip offered little beyond confirmation of the space-themed direction.
The upcoming preview will likely provide initial details about the storyline and which characters will appear. Both familiar faces from the first film and new additions are expected. Attaching major trailers to high-profile theatrical releases remains standard practice in Hollywood, and Wicked: For Good represents one of the final major releases left in 2025. Universal Pictures distributed both the original Mario film and the Wicked adaptations, making the pairing a natural promotional fit.
