Windhoek has lowest maize meal prices, zone 3 highest in Namibia
In October, Windhoek residents paid the lowest price for maize meal at N$70.74 for a 5kg bag, according to data from the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA). Consumers in the ||Kharas, Erongo, Hardap, and Omaheke regions (zone 3) paid the highest price at N$79.79. Fresh loose tomatoes were most expensive in Windhoek at N$44.95 per kg, while zone 1 saw lower prices at N$29.35.
Inflation rose to 0.5% in October, driven by price increases in food and non-food categories. The highest annual inflation was recorded in hotels, food, and alcoholic beverages, with zone 1 experiencing the highest regional rate of 3.7%.
