ZCDC marks 4.5M fatality-free shifts
The Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company has achieved more than 4.5 million shifts without a fatality since the state-owned operation began. The miner has also avoided any lost-time injuries since 2019.
The company earned gold and bronze honors at the National Social Security Authority Safety and Health at Work Conference and Awards ceremony in Victoria Falls. Public relations manager Tsungirirai Dhambuza said the achievements reflect investments in workplace safety systems built around a zero-harm philosophy.
The processing team placed second in the surface category at the Chamber of Mines of Zimbabwe National First Aid Competitions in Shamva. The company had previously won multiple regional first aid awards.
Mining operations face substantial risks of injuries and emergencies. Proper safety protocols allow workers to handle incidents effectively and reduce harm.
