Aig-Imoukhuede picks 72 for Africa reform plan
The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation has selected 72 public sector professionals from seven African nations to participate in its fifth Public Leaders Programme cohort, representing the largest group since the initiative began. Participants from Nigeria, Malawi, Kenya, Cameroon, Zambia, Egypt and Tanzania will receive executive education through a partnership with the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford.
Executive Vice-Chair Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede stated the program has trained 237 government officials since launching, with the foundation targeting 3,000 reform-oriented leaders by the end of the decade. Alumni have implemented changes, including reduced hospital wait times, enhanced financial crime prevention measures and digitized document systems at the Central Bank of Nigeria. Survey results indicate 62 percent of graduates secured promotions or expanded responsibilities following completion.
Program participants must finish capstone projects addressing operational challenges within their organizations, with one graduate establishing alternative dispute resolution frameworks to improve judicial efficiency and accessibility.
