Cassava gold rush brews in Awo-Omamma
Nigerian Breweries Plc has donated a cassava processing facility to the Awo-Omamma community in Imo State as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts. Managing Director Thibaut Boidin described the two-ton-per-day plant as a milestone in sustainable development, estimating it would generate 500 million naira in annual revenue and create numerous jobs for residents. He explained that the project was designed to foster economic empowerment following the closure of the company’s local brewery.
The traditional ruler of Awo-Omamma, Eze Dr Val Amanfo, expressed gratitude for the initiative, stating it would support food production and provide employment for women and youth. Imo State’s Honourable Commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Investment, Chief Rex Anunobi, also commended the company. He said the project aligns with the state’s development goals and serves as a positive example of corporate community engagement.
