Emirates to resume Nigeria flights after two-year break
Emirates airline will restore operations to Nigeria after nearly two years, ending a service suspension triggered by blocked fund repatriations that led the United Arab Emirates to halt visa issuances for Nigerian nationals in 2022. Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer Adnan Kazim credited the Nigerian government’s cooperation in reestablishing the route, which previously served as a gateway connecting travelers through Dubai to more than 140 global destinations.
President Bola Tinubu and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held discussions on lifting the visa restriction and advancing investment opportunities during a September meeting in Abu Dhabi. The carrier confirmed its Lagos-Dubai service will include cargo operations alongside passenger flights.
