Hanypay partners with China to boost African trade
Hanypay formed partnerships with Chinese suppliers to connect African merchants with manufacturers at the 138th China Canton Fair. The digital payment company will use its AKL Lumi currency through Hanymarket, a marketplace set to open for continental traders.
Zambia’s central bank approved AKL Lumi as a regulated digital asset for cross-border payments. The platform operates in 18 African countries, backed by the African Diaspora Central Bank. Hanypay plans to release services similar to M-Pesa for East African transactions in the coming days.
The company positions Hanymarket as a regional alternative to international e-commerce sites. African businesses can register digital wallets to access suppliers when the marketplace launches. The platform aims to reduce transaction costs and simplify international trade for merchants across the continent.
