Kinsale Capital announces leadership shake-up
Kinsale Capital Group chief operating officer Brian D. Haney will retire on March 2, 2026, after 20 years in specialty insurance. The Richmond, Virginia, insurer promoted him to its board of directors, effective Oct. 23, and will retain him as a senior adviser for investor relations after he steps down.
The company elevated Stuart P. Winston to executive vice president and chief underwriting officer. Winston joined Kinsale in 2010 and will continue to oversee underwriting operations. Chairman and chief executive Michael P. Kehoe assumes the president role when Haney departs.
Haney held positions as chief actuary, senior vice president and executive vice president before becoming president and chief operating officer in March 2024. He previously worked at James River Insurance Co. and Colony Insurance Co. as chief actuary, started at GEICO as an actuarial associate and held a business management role at Capital One Financial Corp.
Winston brings more than two decades of underwriting experience to his expanded position. He has taken on greater responsibility within the underwriting division over his 15 years at Kinsale.
