Lagos grants N1b bond to 465 retirees
Lagos State has approved over 1 billion naira in retirement bonds for 465 public servants who completed their service across various government agencies and education boards. The ceremony took place at NECA House in Alausa, where officials encouraged former workers to use post-retirement programs and invest their benefits wisely. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu received praise for maintaining transparent pension payments despite economic pressures facing the region. The Lagos State Pension Commission continues processing documentation for more than 1,000 additional employees preparing to leave government work.
Officials told attendees that automation and better data systems have made benefit distribution more efficient and reliable. The Head of Service assured retiring workers that proper documentation guarantees the timely payment of their entitlements. LASPEC conducted its third retirement preparation seminar this year to help public servants transition smoothly from active employment. Authorities emphasized that decades of employee dedication shaped public service operations throughout the state.
