Mariah Carey named MusiCares Person of the Year for 2026 gala in Los Angeles
MusiCares will honor Mariah Carey as its 2026 Person of the Year at a January 30 gala in Los Angeles. The ceremony, which precedes the Grammy Awards by two days, will feature tribute performances and raise money for music industry support programs. Executive Director Theresa Wolters praised the five-time Grammy winner for using her success to benefit disaster relief and youth programs.
Carey has achieved 19 number-one Billboard singles and sold 220 million albums worldwide across three decades. She established Camp Mariah with the Fresh Air Fund to serve disadvantaged children and backed initiatives after Hurricane Katrina. Recording Academy chief Harvey Mason Jr. called her a generational talent who shaped modern music. Her latest album arrived through Gamma last month as she continues touring Asia.
