Modi hails ISRO’s success with heaviest satellite launch
India completed the orbital deployment of its largest communications satellite on Sunday when the LVM3-M5 rocket carried CMS-03 into space from Sriharikota. Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the space agency for another demonstration of technical excellence that advances national capabilities and benefits citizens. Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan called the mission a significant step toward self-reliance as the indigenously built satellite will enhance naval operations and maritime awareness throughout the Indian Ocean.
The spacecraft known as GSAT-7R represents the heaviest payload yet designed for Indian Navy communications. Lt. Gen. AK Bhatt, who leads the Indian Space Association, characterized the launch as proof of sovereign capacity to deploy strategic satellites for security applications. The rocket nicknamed Bahubali achieved its objective by placing the satellite into geosynchronous transfer orbit.
Officials emphasized that CMS-03 will provide encrypted communication links essential for naval coordination across regional waters and the mainland. The successful mission adds to a series of achievements by scientists and engineers advancing space exploration programs.
