AMD Strix Point APUs leak for AM5
AMD firmware updates indicate the company plans to release Strix Point processors for its AM5 desktop platform. Code references discovered in the AGESA BIOS version 1.2.7.0 by technology analysts suggest configurations ranging from 6 to 12 cores with simultaneous multithreading. The Strix Point chips feature Zen 5 architecture and RDNA 3.5 integrated graphics, superior to the budget Krackan Point series announced earlier. Leakers found explicit Strix Point identifiers within binary firmware files examined through hex editors and UEFI analysis tools.
The desktop chips would succeed the Phoenix Point processors marketed as Ryzen 8000G series. Previous reports from March predicted fourth-quarter 2025 availability for Ryzen 9000G desktop processors based on Zen 5 architecture. The flagship Radeon 890M graphics in mobile Strix Point laptops deliver modest gaming performance that enthusiasts hope will improve in desktop implementations. Multiple industry sources have confirmed the findings through independent firmware analysis.
