Halo remakes cut MP for Halo 7 push
A leaker known as leaks_infinite claims Halo: Campaign Evolved marks the start of multiple remakes in development, with updated versions of the second and third Halo campaigns also planned. Each will feature optional sprint mechanics similar to the first game’s remake.
Halo Studios reportedly chose to exclude multiplayer from these remakes to avoid fragmenting the player base. Instead, the studio intends for Halo 7—the next mainline entry—to serve as the sole multiplayer offering. That game will include its own campaign, serving as a sequel to Halo Infinite, although its multiplayer and campaign may be released separately. The remakes and Halo 7 are all expected to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC. Campaign Evolved, due next year, will use Unreal Engine 5 and add three prequel missions, new weapons, and refined mechanics from later titles. Former Halo designer Jaime Griesemer has criticized some of the remake’s changes. The leaker also noted that Halo 7 likely will not carry a number in its title and that the team formerly known as 343 Industries has more than four projects underway.
