Jeff Bezos joins Project Prometheus as co-CEO
Jeff Bezos has assumed an operational leadership position as co-chief executive of Project Prometheus, an artificial intelligence venture focused on manufacturing applications across computing, automotive, and aerospace sectors. The startup has secured $6.2 billion in funding and represents the billionaire’s return to active business management following his departure from Amazon.
The company operates with approximately 100 employees recruited from OpenAI, Meta, and DeepMind while maintaining secrecy around specific technological approaches. Co-founder Vik Bajaj previously directed initiatives at Google X and health technology division Verily.
The venture represents a strategic shift toward applying machine learning to physical production processes rather than consumer software applications. Bezos brings experience from logistics transformation at Amazon and aerospace engineering through Blue Origin to the manufacturing intelligence challenge.
