Tech partnerships seen as key to Zimbabwe’s digital future
Zimbabwe’s Information Communication Technology Ministry emphasized collaboration with educational institutions as essential for building a digitally skilled population by 2030. Minister Tatenda Mavetera met with representatives from the Institute of Social Development Practices this week, highlighting the importance of such alliances in advancing national digital transformation goals. The institute, established earlier this year, concentrates on preparing humanities and social science students for modern economic challenges through technology integration.
This initiative supports Zimbabwe’s broader development strategies aimed at creating a knowledge-based economy. Institute leadership expressed interest in formalizing cooperation with the ministry to better align their programs with national digital objectives. The government’s technology roadmap includes modernizing public services, enhancing educational systems through digital tools, and improving healthcare access via electronic platforms. Minister Mavetera stated that organizations focusing on digital capability development serve as fundamental building blocks for sustainable national progress toward upper-middle-income status.
